Seoul’s finest examples of concrete and Brutalist architecture from the early 1960s to today are featured on this two-sided, bilingual guide.

Including a map of selected buildings in Seoul and its surroundings, and details of over fifty concrete buildings, this map celebrates the thoroughly modern mark that concrete-built post-war development left on the city and its suburbs.

Architects featured include Chung-up Kim, Swoo-geun Kim, MVRDV, Steven Holl, Zaha Hadid, and many others. With an introduction by Hyon-Sob Kim, Professor at Korea University’s Department of Architecture, and original photography by Yongjoon Choi.

George I. ★★★★★

Brutalist architecture is such a niche interest, but this map makes it feel accessible—the bilingual labels are a nice touch for navigating with my Korean-speaking friend. I've already planned three walking tours around the buildings it highlights.

The double-sided format is genius—I can flip to the bilingual guide while exploring without fumbling with my phone. The Brutalist picks are spot-on and made me see these buildings in a whole new light.

I’ve walked past so many of these buildings without realizing their history—now I can’t stop spotting them on my commute. The two-sided fold-out is sturdy enough to carry around all day, and the photos make each stop feel worth the hike.
