Ilford Microphen is a fine grain film developer which gives an effective increase in film speed whilst retaining much of the grain characteristics associated with fine grain developers.
Microphen is particularly useful when using extended development times to push process fast films such as HP5 Plus, Delta 400 Professional, Delta 3200 Professional and SFX200.

Nicholas F. ★★★★★

Used this for a roll of HP5 at 800 and the shadows came out way cleaner than expected, with almost no extra grain. The bottle mixed up easily and I got a consistent four working solutions out of the one litre.

Michael ★★★★★

Finally got a roll of Tri-X pushed to 1600 developed in this and the grain is still surprisingly tight. One litre makes plenty of stock solution, so it’ll last me a while even with frequent shooting.

Ryan ★★★★★

I've been shooting at 800 with this and the shadow detail actually holds up, which is rare for a speed-boosting developer. The grain stays tight too, not mushy like I expected from a fine grain formula. Went through the whole liter in three months of regular use and every roll came out clean.
